I have built a disclosure policy for the site at DisclosurePolicy.org and wanted to let you know how to find it. If you want to see it at any time, there is a link to it at the bottom of the page called, you guessed it, “Disclosure Policy“.
The concept of having a disclosure policy is good because having one maintains a level of credibility.  If my readers see that I have a disclosure policy and read it, they will understand that I am honest and up front with them. When people visit my site and see that I fully disclose my influences, they will be more likely to trust my posted opinions, sponsored or not.
I haven’t used paid advertisers very much on this blog, but it has been enough to keep up with the cost of the site. I don’t take advantage of just any advertiser either. I will always be honest and will not review or lie about a product that I have no trust in.
If you have your own site or blog, please check out DisclosurePolicy.org.

Who’s On First
I just heard this for the first time. I can barely see the screen through the tears of laughter. It’d be really interesting to find out how Abbott and Costello came up with that bit. From my understanding they did this bit thousands of times and it was just as good every time.
———->—–>—>   Who’s On First   < —<—–<———-
I went looking for this when I heard about it on Studio 60 two weeks ago. It’s a very funny show that isn’t getting the ratings they were expecting. If you haven’t seen it, you can watch the most recent episode by clicking HERE.
Do you know of any other comedy bits out there that compare to this? Leave a comment with the link or just let me know what you think of Abbott and Costello’s “Who’s On First“.
That Line
You know which one I’m talking about, too, don’t you? Some people call it pushing your buttons, I call it crossing “that” line. Don’t cross it.
There are a number of different lines to cross though. There’s the personal space line, such as when I’m changing clothes behind a door that’s not locked. I don’t expect anyone to cross the line of the door without at least knocking first and making sure it’s ok with me.
One line could be borrowing a neighbor’s property. You can come ask me to borrow some of my tools, and I’d more than likely be happy to make that happen; but come “borrow” it without asking, and I’d probably have a different reaction. I guess over time that those lines move with stronger relationships, but you get the point.
I’ve never dealt with this one, but there’s the moral lines of relationships with the opposite sex. Apparently a lot of people have a problem figuring out where those lines are without crossing them first. I don’t want to get close enough to see those lines. I have enough problems in my life that I don’t want any more to deal with.
Some people are annoying just to be annoying. They know they’re trying to get a rise out of you, and they keep on doing it until they’ve accomplished their goal. Their next step is to become calm and rational to make themselves feel as if they are better than the person who just lost it. I guess you’d call it a self-promotion. I figured out how to stop it today. Ignore the problem, and only address the problem when absolutely necessary. I’m not advising you to suppress the feelings that rise out of the annoyance, but I am advising you to let it go. I feel so much better now.
My new class started this week, and it looks like it will be both easy and hard. I will have to do a lot of reading, but overall it will be an easy class. I just have to maintain my class schedule better than last semester.
My Perspective of iTunes 7
I’ve seen some people upset about their recent “upgrade” (they’d call it something else) to iTunes 7. There have been problems with iTunes purchased music not making it’s way over, music not playing correctly, and other stuff like that. I’ve also read that Apple is granting a one time allowance to re-download lost content that was lost due to the upgrade. In my opinion, that means that Apple can easily recognize and admit it’s mistake and make it right all in a short amount of time. We know it’s a short amount of time because this version was just released on Tuesday.
I have seen a number of features that I really like about the new version 7.
- You can force iTunes to update album art to the iTunes version, even if you didn’t purchase the album through iTunes. It takes a while to do it the first time, but I added a Peter Frampton mp3 album this afternoon, and iTunes went out and got the album art immediately. I am highly impressed by this as I have gone through a lot of trouble in previous versions updating each album by going out to Google, searching for the album cover and picking the best one before adding it. Streamlining my own process without even having to ask for it… “cool”!
- I like the visual representation of how much space I’m using on the hard drive. It shows how much is music, video, etc. Part of the presentation also includes tabs for the iPod preferences that used to require a right-click to access. Again, making things easier is tremendous.
- Built-in ability to back-up entire library (excluding Audible purchases) to CD or DVD easily and restore that library later on, if necessary. I’m always concerned that I don’t have a duplicate copy of my music just in case of hard drive crashes. I used to work in hard drive data recovery, if you didn’t know that already. Data recovery is expensive.
- It’s pretty. The previous version was pretty, too, but looking at this makes me feel all fuzzy inside. I almost feel the need to get a mac to enjoy the entire Apple experience.
- Download progress page. It consolidates all downloads on one page, so you can see how far along each is and also pauses downloads when the connection drops. I’ve tested it, and it seems to work flawlessly. You can also pause a download purposely as well. In previous versions you could only see progress of downloads in the top area, and even then, I couldn’t figure out how to switch progress bars between two things that were being downloaded.
- Skip Count allows you to see how many times you’ve skipped a song. This is helpful if your library is larger than you iPod, and could potentially make it easier to determine which songs you want on it. I have a video now, but had a Nano before, and this feature would have been great back then.
I have seen some people complain about iTunes using up way too much memory on their system, but that hasn’t been as widespread as the music complaints. I’ve played quite a few things that I got from the iTunes store, as well as stuff from my personal library and haven’t had the sketchy audio quality others have complained about.
My personal experience leads me to the conclusion that iTunes 7 is better than it’s predecessor.
Digging PayPerPost
I found this Digg story by a fellow PayPerPoster. You can get to it HERE.
Dan is right about the fact that advertising dollars are more valuable if they are going to regular Joe’s like myself. Creating a buzz about new products is much more valuable because it lets people add usage ideas and collaborative strength to a product.
I really like the video he made… it’s really creative.
I Dugg it… Do you Digg it?
Hurricane Tracking
I may have posted about flhurricane.com last year when I was tracking Rita, but I had to post a link again. I was curious about where Ernesto was headed, and this one shows the average route from all of the routes predicted by several forcast models.
Check out this Map of Ernesto’s Path. I looked for a way to display the map here in my blog, but why reinvent the wheel, you know? So you’re just looking at a picture here.
One of the neat things to look at is tracking for an entire year, such as All of the Hurricanes in 2005.
What do you use to track hurricanes? I don’t know how anything could be more informative than this.
Retractions
Ok, after a day of thinking about it, and letting God get through to me, I have come to the hard conclusion that my review of the movie last night was a little too harsh. My Super Ex-Girlfriend was not as bad as I said last night.
I would not really enjoy being broken down in the desert during a sand-storm without the power to roll up the windows more than watching that pile of manure. On a five-star scale, I’d probably give it a quarter of a star.
Hey, we all have our moments of weakness, and I know I am blessed to live in a country where I have the ability to spend money watching horrible productions while there are soldiers overseas fighting for that ability.
I just wish that we had walked out when we first thought to, so that I might not have felt so much dumber for watching it afterwards.
My (Not So) Super Ex-Girlfriend
Sad…
I do not understand how Hollywood can expect people to stop downloading movies and keep paying to go to the movie theaters. The concept of the movie was great. The production was horrible. The constant focus on sex was absolutely horrendous.
There were a few random funny points, though. It really seemed like they had a few jokes about having a super ex-girlfriend, and then they threw in enough of a plot to make a movie.
I might watch this movie again… if I can’t find something else on TV and it is showing it for free over the air. I wouldn’t even Tivo My Super Ex-Girlfriend, though. It wouldn’t be worth the power consumption.
I don’t think the movie is even worth the space on this page, but I just had to spread the news so that maybe I can spare some poor soul a few dollars and keep up the will to live.
If you’ve seen the movie and disagree with my analysis, please do not comment, because I can only handle so much stupidity.
I spent $35 at the movie theater tonight, and I am actually wondering if I might have had a better time being broken down on the side of the road in the desert in a sand storm without the power to roll up the windows.
On a 5 star scale, I’d give this selection 3 turds.
Sweet Seat
This has got to be the coolest chair ever. I used a chair similar to this one a few years back, and it was the most comfortable chair I’d ever used.
 http://www.bizchair.com/gg-b078-silver.html
The chair I used was plastic, while this one is constructed with solid metal. I personally like the cool metal finish that helps keep from getting hot while sitting in front of my computer.
If you haven’t used a chair like this, I would suggest getting one right away to see how much more comfortable sitting can be. Hey, there’s a 60-Day Guarantee, so there’s nothing to lose, right?
Have you ever used one of these? How did you like it?
New Blue Binary Theme
I’ve decided to change things up a little. I don’t want to get too used to the old theme, but I didn’t want to stray too far away from the old one either. This one is still blue, but you can choose which theme you like better out of this one and three more over to the right side of the screen.
I like this one, and I am learning a little more about how to code in PHP by figuring this one out.
How do you like it?
